Daisy

Daisy

Daisy is a common name for several species of flowering plants in the aster family (Asteraceae). Daisies have a composite flower head that consists of many small disk flowers in the center, usually yellow, surrounded by a ring of larger ray flowers, usually white or pink. The flower head looks like a single flower, but is actually a cluster of many flowers. Daisies are native to various regions of the world, but some species have been introduced and naturalized in other areas. Some of the most well-known daisies are the oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare), the Shasta daisy (L. X superbum), and the English daisy (Bellis perennis). Daisies are popular as ornamental plants for gardens, borders, and containers, and as cut flowers for bouquets. Daisies are also used as symbols of innocence, purity, and loyalty.
